What is a Barrio?
Barrio means neighbourhood in Spanish. For us – a diverse group of physicists from all over the world, working under the supervision of Prof. Eduardo Martín-Martínez at the University of Waterloo – the connotation is more along the lines of community. Our barrio does research in RQI.
What is RQI?
RQI stands for Relativistic Quantum Information – the broad title given to our field of research. We study traditional aspects of quantum information science in the more fundamental setting of relativistic field theory on flat and curved spacetimes. As such, our research is uniquely poised to attack important practical problems in quantum communication, entanglement generation, open quantum dynamics, and the like, while at the same time offering a testbed for studies into black hole physics, cosmology, and approaches to quantum gravity in general.
